A much loved Robsoul artist steps into a new lane this summer as Disperse Black – but don’t get it twisted, the ingredients remain the same: raw grooves, soul where it counts, and house music built for the floor.

Pep N Ya Step introduces the new alias with five cuts of House pressure, already winning over Robsoul boss Phil Weeks: “This new Disperse Black release is very dope, loopy stuff. Ghetto shit that I love, and full of soul. Perfect for DJs.”

The title track sets the pace immediately. ‘Pep N Ya Step’ is all shuffle, bump and uplift, injecting movement wherever it lands. ‘Loop N Da Pocket’ locks deeper into the groove, teasing sunshine-soaked Latin touches and rolling percussion that keeps things tight and hypnotic.
‘Grip The Moment’ brings tougher energy but never loses the feeling, chopped vocals, warm chords and broken snares doing the heavy lifting. Then ‘Forgotten Joint’ proves impossible to leave behind, all sparkling guitar licks, dusty handclaps and horn shots with plenty of personality.
Closing things out, ‘Okay, Alright’ signs off exactly as it should – loose, soulful and cool, without trying too hard.
