A new year signals a clean break for Josh Byrne. Following last year’s ‘All Got Soul’ EP under his former Sudden Moves alias, the Dutch producer steps forward under a fresh name with the ‘High Again’ EP, marking a shift in identity and a renewed creative spark.
‘High Again’ wastes no time establishing Byrne’s instinct for groove, with the title track riding a tight interplay of rhythm guitar, weighty low-end and a blues-tinged vocal that feels built for fun dancefloor moments. It’s immediate, raw, and fun.
‘Bugging Out’ leans into a more restless energy. Twitchy drums and a shuffling rhythm give the track its name, locking into a groove that feels slightly off-centre in all the right ways. It keeps things playful while never losing momentum.
Closing cut ‘Hit That MF’ seals the deal with a tougher edge. Drum-led and full of bounce, it strips things back to pure impact, rounding out the EP with a track that hits hard.
