Shapeshifting Parisian house maverick The Mekanism keeps up his superb run of form with a standout new EP on legendary French house label Robsoul Recordings.
The Mekanism has serious house roots and has long been shaping the contemporary underground on the likes of Moon Child, hedZup Records, Exploited, and Whippin’ Records. He has also dropped gems on this label before and always evolves his style and explores new ground, while keeping his signature grooves front and centre.
The title cut slowly builds in irresistibly silky loops – they’re warm and gooey as they circle the groove and build the pressure over a deep bassline. It’s perfect dancing material before Keep It Real gets more upbeat and punchy, with leggy drums and rolling bass all topped off with wispy synths and spoken words that bring the vibes. Daylight shuts down with another locked in groove that rolls and rolls under diva vocal touches and disco melodies.
The Groove EP is another superb return from this always innovative producer.
