John Pridgen touches down on Robsoul Recordings with a vivid and imaginative new release: ‘Imagine Stories That Don’t Exist,’ a four-track EP that blurs the lines between memory, rhythm, and reinvention.
Hailing from San Antonio, Pridgen is a storyteller at heart, using the tools of House music to craft tales that haven’t been told. Sonic vignettes shaped by his roots in late-‘90s and early-2000s Hip Hop. A sample-chopping specialist, his music is textured and laced with groove-heavy basslines, dusty horns, disco-driven loops, and raw rhythmic swagger.
This EP is more than just a set of club-ready cuts. Taking sounds from the past and reshaping them into something entirely new, each track is bumping, soulful, and full of character.
