Having already made his mark with releases on Too Many Rules, Slothboogie, and Jack City Records, Dutch DJ/Producer Tom Wanders – aka Sudden Moves – now lands an impressive debut on Phil Weeks’ legendary Robsoul Recordings.
This release is a heartfelt tribute to the early-to-mid 2000s jackin’ house era – a sound that continues to inspire him today. Rather than simply replicating the past, he set out to capture its raw energy and inject his own unique twist. After countless hours of deep digging and meticulous micro-chopping, the result is three fresh, frenetically funky joints crafted with love and intricate attention to detail.
“Each track is infused with a different influence: ’80s funk, disco, and hip-hop – three genres that shaped my musical taste,” says Sudden Moves. “In a way, it’s a homage within a homage. But isn’t that what we’re all doing — paying tribute in our own way?”
