Longtime house purveyors Natural Rhythm make their debut on Robsoul Recordings with a three-track statement: the ‘Mighty Minotaur’ EP. Featuring the heavyweight title cut, the disco-tipped ‘Yo Disco’, and its stripped-down counterpart ‘Yo Drums’, the release marks a powerful reunion for the duo.

The spark came from a single piece of gear: the Moog Minotaur synthesizer, which provided the EP’s rumbling bassline and its namesake. As the duo describe it, “we loved the way that analog Moog sound comes into the mix so much, we visualized a mythical (and mighty) minotaur bursting out of the woods – and it felt right.”
Equally important is the spirit of reconnection. Though now separated by distance – one member based in Southern California, the other living further north in Canada – the pair leaned on technology to re-establish their creative partnership. The result is a project that nods to their earliest days: looping grooves, hands-on effects manipulation, analog filters, echoes, and that unmistakable warmth achieved by recording straight through a valve DJ mixer.
In true Natural Rhythm fashion, the EP captures the loose, groovy energy of their legendary live sets, when the duo would haul an entire studio rig onto the stage to create house music in real time. That raw and spontaneous ethos aligns perfectly with Robsoul’s own heritage, making ‘Mighty Minotaur’ both a fitting debut and a triumphant homecoming to their roots.
