DJ Ra-Soul is always cited by Phil Weeks as being one of his biggest influences, and now Robsoul have secured two of Ra-Soul’s classic tracks for re-release.  True Science was originally released on Leaf Recordings in 2000 and Rights Of Passage, a Ra-Soul collaboration with Kwai Le Chief and Nikola Baytala as S.W.A.T., was released on Soulfood in 2001. True Science demonstrates Ra-Soul’s genius at combining deep, soulful and sultry sounds, with punching beats and expertly crafted percussion that never fail to heat up a dance floor.  Rights Of Passage is more energetic, moving into Techno territory with a relentless drive, while a male vocal retains the soulful edge.
The re-release of these two tracks follows the inclusion of four other Ra-Soul tracks on Phil Weeks’ three-part Crate Diggin compilation in August of 2013, and precedes a rumoured return of the Oakland-based producer with new productions.
