Sheffield’s Tommy Vicari Jnr, under his V.I.C.A.R.I. moniker, steps up with some modular house on Robsoul with the Ready for You EP. Another package of floor-splittingly raw house jams to kick any party into gear.
First up, title track Ready For You mixes the carefree vibes of summer terrace sets with a pounding, automated kick drum that’s more suited to the warehouse, with its hard-as-titanium bass kick spine creating a pummelling rhythm. Next, Lanzaroni With You sees two worlds collide as dubbed-out synths and metallic adorned beats, jostle with smooth jazzy keys.
On the flip, Chloes brings a grainy but swinging rhythm that slowly oscillates into a sub-fest with pulsing and wobbling basslines, before closer Good Morning Heartache builds on the hip house foundation – vocal chops, skipping beats, and big piano riffs all combine for a head nodding funk workout.
