Robsoul reaches across the pond once again as LA house purveyor, Mikey V, returns to the label with three brand-new bumpin’ jams on his ‘Closer’ EP.
Rasping snares, shuffling hats and soulful vocal chops underpin the title track ‘Closer’, before a hollowed out bassline and synth stabs launch the track skywards from its breakdown.
Mikey sends us into ‘Freefall’ on the flip with a skippier, lighter touch, but also a wobbling, swollen bassline that hits hard. Final cut ‘Stay High’ matches the club-bound bump,  with a full-fire jazz ensemble of cascading keys and dancing sax, working together to deliver some major fancy footwork appeal.
