‘Good Name’ sets the scene, leaning heavily on a cult 80s Afrofunk cut from Nigerian legend William Onyeabor. Taking the evergreen ‘Good Name’ into the future with go-faster stripes and layers of heavy electronic funk, it sets the scene with a unique disco-meets-Afro fusion.
It’s in good company as DJ Homewrecker tears up relationships left, right and centre with a great spread of flavours; ‘Shitty Kitty’ is total acid mischief, ‘Trick Flows’ writhes in the spirit and signature of Dirtybird with all its bleepery, vocal textures and hazy emotions while ‘Backslash’ gets its jack on with a dark techy twist.
Decades deep and still revealing more to his sound, Homewrecker continues to hit his stride. This EP is proof… It’s more than just a passing affair.
