‘Chicago Boogie’ takes the lead with its tidal chords washing back and forth and a bassline that bumps that essential boomty-bomp dynamic that’s synonymous with the Windy City. Further down wind we’re taken much deeper down the rabbit hole on the acidic funk of ‘Take A Trip’ before ‘Scatterbrain’ brings us back down to reality in a jazzy, trumpet-led haze. Softly, sweetly, deeply… It ties the EP together with the strong sense of timelessness and respect to house heritage that Robsoul, Rubb Sound System and their home city Chicago are known and loved for.
